Really disliked the logo - PAN AM anyone? - but I was surprised at how well the design turned out

International Development Ireland (2001)

This turned out to be quite a playful design for a not particularly playful agency: they're serious people doing serious stuff. An unpromising identity design, suggested some interesting motifs.

I read recently that if you're designing for a boring client (no offence intended) then the design should also be a bit, well... boring too.

Yes, why mislead - and perhaps delay - visitors with a bells and whistles, stuff flying all over the place experience? So things were kept serious and to the point but I felt there was still scope for enjoyable visuals.

I really disliked the logo - PAN AM anyone? - but it had to stay. So I drew as much inspiration, and as many formal cues as I could from it and was surprised at how well it turned out.
